SLT has endorsed incumbent Mayor Karen Bass for another term to lead the City of Los Angeles.

We strongly believe that Mayor Bass has been a steady and focused mayor, which is imperative for many upcoming Los Angeles-hosted global events. We also believe Ms. Bass has a better handle on the incredible challenging issues facing all Angelenos. And most importantly, she did not bend the knee to the dictator and his cronies in the White House.

Ms. Bass stood her ground and fought for the protection of all Angelenos, especially our immigrant neighbors. Unlike challenger Nithya Raman, Mayor Bass is dedicated in expanding and improving the L.A.P.D. Raman would rather shrink the force by voting against much needed funding, and would rather rely on “volunteers” or community “Ambassadors,” to take the place of trained law enforcement officers.

Mayor Bass will continue to recognize the importance of R1-zoned single family homes, challenging the false narrative promulgated by Ms. Raman and others about transit corridor density and the need for more “affordable” dwellings. The apartment developments, condos and town houses exploding along Rowena, Sunset and other major corridors are not “affordable” and provide no relief to those who can barely afford to live in the metro central neighborhoods of Los Angeles. They are built for, and cater to, those who are escaping the west side or coming from other extremely expensive urban cities. And based on her failings as our city council representative, we can only imagine how completely out of her league Ms. Raman would be as mayor. The recent debate demonstrated that.

Obviously, it is ultimately up to Angelenos to “hire” the leadership we believe are responsible, responsive, and practical. Silver Lake Together Advocacy Team recommends, and encourages others, to support the re-election of Mayor Karen Bass.

A Note Regarding The Council District 13 Election

SLT supports candidates Rich Sarian or Dylan Kendall for CD13. Both candidates offer decisive improvement over current Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez, who SLT believes has not lived up to his promise.
