P-22 is Back Home in Griffith Park After Visit to Silver Lake

Updated: Apr 3, 2022

It was hard to miss the news that L.A.’s most famous mountain lion, P-22, was recently spotted on Berkeley Circle in Silver Lake, not far from the reservoirs and the furthest south he has ventured since making his home in Griffith Park. This morning, the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, a unit of the National Park Service, tweeted that P-22 has returned to his regular stomping grounds in Griffith Park. Some hypothesized that increased media and visitor activity in Griffith Park prompted P-22 to leave his habitat near the Hollywood Sign. Speculation aside, it’s a reminder that we live in a crucial pathway for wildlife traveling between Griffith Park and the L.A. River.
