Slip Sliding Away

For years, soil erosion from the slopes on W. Silver Lake Dr. has covered the sidewalks south of Balmer with loose dirt. That dirt has made walking, jogging, running or using a wheelchair on that stretch of sidewalks extremely dangerous. Especially after a rain. Most pedestrians opt to walk in the street to avoid any danger, which is an even greater risk.

SLT researched municipal codes to confirm what we already assumed: the responsibility of keeping these sidewalks safe and clear of any obstructions, is that of the property owner. (SEC. 56.08. Sidewalks-Streets-Obstructions).

SLT has filed a complaint with MyLA311, and has reached out to CD13 Field Representative Regina Mallare for assistance. We will keep our readers posted. In the meantime, take great care walking in that area.
