A Well Kept Secret...?

Riddle us this: why has the announcement, purpose and calendar of Recreation and Park’s Park Needs Assessment survey been kept so low key?

The survey began in January 2025, with the public comment portion closing on Wednesday, October 15th. SLT sends our appreciation to one of our supporters for bringing this to SLT's attention. We’ve reviewed the SLNC website but could not find any link to the Park Needs Assessment. (By the way, can someone please make the SLNC website usable? The site looks lovely, but the navigation is not workable.)

Further, the landscape architects compiling the assessment, Olin Studio, requested a short report from each of the 99 Neighborhood Councils that includes their priorities. NCs were able to choose to submit a report no later than June 2, 2025. Each Neighborhood Council received an email request, with only 12 responding, a 12% response rate. Unfortunately, the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council does not appear to have answered this request.

Why have our council district representatives brought little to no attention to this Assessment? Are they concerned about actually hearing from those who actually live in Silver Lake 24/7?

Well...we will not be ignored. No matter how hard they try. Let’s not forget that both Councilmembers Raman and Soto-Martinez are huge advocates of the current iteration of the Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Master Plan.

Hmmmmmmmmm...

Let’s all take the survey as no in-person meetings remain. Comment section closes on October 15th.
