Scott Plante, architect, co-founder of Silver Lake Together and co-chair of Silver Lake’s
Urban Design and Preservation Committee, explains that it is crucial to understand the
differences between affordable and low- income housing. As Plante notes, “In this age of disinformation and misleading 'facts,' it’s important that we use the correct terms when discussing Silver Lake’s housing shortage — and understand the root causes.” In an upcoming issue, Plante will address the role of gentrification in Silver Lake and how it dramatically impacts housing availability and costs.
