In it's most recent newsletter, Silver Lake Together reported that Los Angeles Metro (Metro) had discontinued the 201 bus line that connects Silver Lake with surrounding communities, including Glendale, and other transportation services. The reaction was swift and strong as stakeholders expressed deep concerns about how this change would harm those who rely on public transportation.
We shared your thoughts with city officials and shortly thereafter Metro expanded its new
on-demand, ride-sharing service to certain Silver Lake neighborhoods. Described by The
Eastsider as an “unexpected move,” the new Silver Lake service went into effect this past
Sunday, July 18. Riders can use an app to hail a ride (like Uber); book at the Metro
website, or call 323.GO.METRO.
Metro also recently expanded DASH service in Downtown L.A., thanks to efforts led by
councilmembers Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León. In our opinion, Silver Lake urgently needs
DASH service to help all who depend on public transportation.
